Program Description

A dental hygienist is a preventive oral health professional licensed to provide educational, clinical, and therapeutic services to the public. The Dental Hygiene program at BridgeValley prepares students to be licensed in any jurisdiction and awards an Associate in Science degree upon successful completion of all prerequisite and major courses.  The program is located on BridgeValley’s Montgomery campus with modern classroom and clinical facilities. The program is accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation.

Program Assessment

The Dental Hygiene program is committed to assessment of faculty effectiveness and student performance in support of our emphasis on excellence in dental hygiene education. Program outcomes are assessed systematically and comprehensively by didactic course reviews, clinical performance evaluations, externally administered board examinations, advisory committee/employer feedback, patient surveys, student/graduate surveys and faculty evaluation. General outcomes are assessed via portfolio.

 

Pre-Program Admission


PROGRAM NOTES:

  1. Pre-program admission courses with asterisks “*” are required for the program.
  2. A grade of “C” or better must be earned in all DENT courses.
  3. A grade of “C” or better must be earned in BIOL 230 and BIOL 231.
