This course introduces students to the principles, standards, and practices of managing health records in both paper-based and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Students will learn about the organization, storage, retrieval, and security of health information, as well as applicable legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA compliance. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, confidentiality, and the role of health records in supporting patient care, billing, and quality improvement.
