Program Description
Brewing Technology is a dynamic program that is designed to meet the needs of each student as well as the needs of West Virginia’s craft brewing industry. The program takes a hands on approach, to teach students the science and art that drives the brewing industry in West Virginia.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Critique various beer styles according to BJCP Guidelines.
- Use appropriate ingredients and equipment to produce craft beer.
- Apply basic scientific knowledge and techniques to optimize various aspects of the brewery including wort production, fermentation, and environmental sustainability.
- Differentiate craft breweries and non-craft breweries.
- Evaluate various beers for things such as quality, style, and off flavors.
- Independently create recipes and process diagrams to produce various beer styles.
