Institutional Learning Outcomes


Institutional Learning Outcomes (ILO) focus on four educational areas as outlined below. The list identifies all active courses for each ILO area.


Note 1: An asterisk (*) before the course subject code indicates provisional ILO approval pending a resubmission the following academic year with additional data.

Note 2: A caret (^) before the course title indicates the course is considered equivalent at all West Virginia public institutions of higher education per the West Virginia Core Course Transfer Agreement.

Note 3: A tilde (~) before the course title indicates the course is considered general education per the West Virginia Core Course Transfer Agreement.

ILO 1


Communicate effectively when speaking and writing, using appropriate technology.

ILO 2


Employ qualitative and quantitative reasoning skills to interpret and analyze data, solve problems, synthesize hypotheses, and communicate findings.

ILO 3


Demonstrate civil discourse appropriate for living and working in a diverse society through the use and understanding of social respect, social responsibility, and social ethics.

ILO 4


Apply the critical thinking process to analyze problems and make informed decisions.
