Program Description
The Diesel Technology Associate of Applied Science (AAS) program prepares students for careers in the maintenance, repair, and optimization of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. This two-year program combines classroom instruction with hands-on training to build advanced technical skills and industry readiness. Students learn to inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines and systems, including fuel injection, steering and suspension, drive-train systems, brake systems, and electronic control systems. Emphasis is placed on preventive maintenance and adherence to safety and project specifications. The curriculum also includes workforce readiness training, introductory computer applications, English, Applied Technical Math, and basic welding. Students earn industry-recognized certifications such as OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR/AED, and have the opportunity to pursue ASE certifications in Diesel Engines, Brakes, Drive Train, Preventive Maintenance, and Electrical Systems. Graduates leave with a strong foundation in diesel technology and the practical experience needed to begin careers as skilled technicians in transportation, construction, agriculture, and energy industries, all of which rely on dependable diesel power.
