ALHL - 101 Phlebotomy and Lab 4 A combination of lecture, lab, and hands-on practical experience. Coursework includes selecting and preparing the skin puncture site, tube selection, collecting specimens (order of the draw), adhering to proper health and safety guidelines, patient-technician relationship, and clerical duties associated with proper record keeping. Under direction of a preceptor, students master venipuncture (100 sticks), capillary sticks (25), and other procedures while on clinical rotation at an approved facility (120 hours) Emphasis will be placed on the successful completion of the national certification exam after the course.
Pre-requisite(s): ALHL 105 , ENGL 101 eligible. BIOL 201 and BIOL 202 or BIOL 210 or BIOL 220 and BIOL 221
