HSRS - 274 Field Experience I 2


Students engage in a three hundred (300) hour clinical experience split into two courses, obtaining 120 hours each in a behavioral health facility/school/clinic/center of their choosing. This course represents the first experiential learning opportunity at 120 hours. Students will be afforded the opportunity to complete field experience and increase their competency in the addictions counseling domains while fulfilling the practicum experience requirements mandated by the state certification board. Ongoing supervision will be given by a qualified staff member on site and a faculty member off site. Students will be interviewed by the Department Chair and/or Clinical Coordinator to determine eligibilityand suitability of placement. Students are required to submit to a drug screening and background check prior to placement.

Pre-requisite(s):
ENGL 101, HSRS 123, any college-level MATH
