This course is an introduction to all basic laboratory practices including the following areas: quality control, safety, lab equipment, maintenance, accreditation, and certification. The various disciplines of the laboratory and the tests performed in the sections are discussed. A laboratory component of the class will introduce basic laboratory skills including: pipetting, microscope usage, point-of-care testing, laboratory safety, centrifuge usage and other discipline-specific laboratory skills.
