Program Description
The CAS program prepares students to gain employment as power company line service mechanics through classroom, field operations and on the job training. Students start by completing a Workforce Basic Skills course. If satisfactorily c completed, they continue with an introductory class in Pole Climbing, OSHA 20 Hour and First Aid/CPR/AED. Students desiring to continue then complete courses in Heavy Equipment, CDL Class A with a Pintle Hook and Fundamentals of Electrical Distribution. The program is completed with On the Job instruction provided by power companies.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Apply pole climbing and equipment operation safety protocols.
- Model appropriate road driving techniques.
- Install electrical line service equipment correctly.
