Program Description

The Health Sciences curriculum offers a traditional path to a Health Sciences, AAS as well as an avenue for degree completion for students who are not accepted into their desired selective-admission program. Students following one of the eight pre-major tracks will complete the first two semesters within their pre-major program before completing the last two semesters of the Health Sciences, AAS program.
 


For maximum credit flexibility, pre-major students who are not accepted into their desired selective-admission program may be eligible to transfer to the Board of Governors, AAS program if they have not previously earned an associate-level credential at any institution of higher education and meet all other Board of Governors, AAS admission requirements.

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate client advocacy for selected populations in healthcare environments
  • Promote disease prevention to improve healthcare outcomes of clients in their care
  • Utilize critical thinking in developing solutions within healthcare environments
  • Apply effective communication methods when interacting with others in the healthcare system

A variety of evaluation methods is utilized to assess student learning outcomes.

Restricted Electives (If Needed)


A minimum of sixty (60) credit hours of 100-level or higher non-duplicated credit are required for all associate-level credentials. If a student’s combination of Health Sciences, pre-major, and/or transfer credit does not meet the minimum credit requirement, any of the following supplemental courses may be taken:
