Program Description
This program prepares students to enter the HVAC industry as apprentices with basic knowledge of heating, ventilation and refrigeration equipment. A certification exam is offered for the Section 608 Technician Certification; Reclaiming, Recovering and Disposing of Refrigerants at the end of the program. The certification is a national requirement for all persons handling refrigerants.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:
- Explain the refrigeration cycle
- Apply basic electrical principles to evaluate the operation of HVAC systems and components
- Demonstrate the ability to service standard HVAC controls
- Perform basic service operations on heat pump systems
- Charge, evacuate and evaluate the integrity of refrigerant systems
- Complete the EPA 608 licensing exam
