Program Description

The field of criminal justice involves the three components of the criminal justice system: police, courts, and corrections. The academic discipline also includes study of the juvenile justice system and the extent and causes of crime among adults and juveniles. Criminal Justice is an exciting and interesting discipline that can lead to attractive and worthwhile careers.

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Summarize the major components of the criminal justice system and the role each plays in creating a cohesive system for adults and juveniles in the US.
  • Discuss the variables associated with trends in crime.
  • Differentiate between the major approaches to responding to crime.
  • Demonstrate appropriate job market competencies.

Assessment Methods

Program Outcomes are assessed in targeted courses on specific assignments, as well as the institution’s General Education Assessment.
