Program Description
The Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel as entry-level medical laboratory technicians. Throughout the program, students will achieve the following competencies: (1) specimen collecting and processing, (2) laboratory testing and analysis, (3) quality assurance and safety, (4) data interpretation and critical thinking, (5) professionalism including communication with others and ethical conduct, (6) information technology proficiency, and (7) certification and employment readiness.
The curriculum is heavily weighted in science and students will participate in hands-on clinical practicum experience during the program.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Perform laboratory techniques appropriate for an entry-level Medical Laboratory Technician
- Analyze and inteprret laboratory data.
- Apply ethical standards and professionalism to communicate with all members of the healthcare teams.
- Demonstrate cognitive and psychomotor skills to address complex medical laboratory issues.
