Program Description
This skill set will provide technical knowledge and skills This course will provide technical knowledge and skills for the student to obtain a CDL Class A with Pintle Hook restriction. The course is for utility grade trucks rated at 26,001 pounds and a 10,000-pound trailer; it is approximately a three-week, 120-hours course, and will cover the topics of general knowledge, air brakes, and combination.
Following the classroom instruction (approximately 30 hours), students will practice basic maneuvers such as parallel parking, 45- and 90-degree docking, off-set backing, etc., on BVCTC’s practice range. Following the range practice, students will gain behind-the-wheel training on public roads.
Students will need to study the WV CDL Manual (provided) to prepare for the Class A CDL knowledge test. Students will utilize pre- and post-trip inspection forms and other forms required for vehicle operations. The WV state examiner will conduct the required testing for the student to obtain their CDL.
