Program Description

The Elementary Education Associate of Applied Sciences program serves a dual purpose. It provides the first two years of general study to students who plan to transfer to a baccalaureate program and work toward a Bachelor of Arts or Science in Elementary Education (see transfer information). It also provides two years of general studies to individuals who desire a structured, non-technical, degree program to gain employment or to secure a promotion in employment.

Program Learning Outcomes

1. Employ a professional level of communication, demonstrating and practicing interpersonal communication skills, ethics and civility.

2. Integrate(combine) knowledge gained from educational experience to resolve problems and integrate ideas across disciplines.

3. Demonstrate information literacy and technological competencies.

4. Illustrate appropriate instructional practices with respect for student diversity in the elementary education.

Program Requirements


PROGRAM NOTES:

  1. Associate-level programs require a minimum of 60 hours of credit. When programs allow flexible electives, it is the responsibility of the student to select an appropriate combination of electives to meet the minimum credit hour requirement for the program.
